P1030391 AS IF WE WERE ALONE - EMPFANGSHALLE (GERMANY)

The artistic duo Empfangshalle has conducted research on the behavior of cell phone users. Their actions/performances staged to achieve specific effects and reactions visualize the new spaces and gestures engendered while cell phone users are on the line.
Having come to the realization that Whoever uses his cell phone in public disassociates himself from his surroundings via real or virtual spaces, the artists formulated and constructed prototypes of “mobile telephoning spaces” that will be offered in conjunction with a worldwide telephone service. Skulpturaler Sprach-Raum-Klang- Organismus

Outerspace_p1030657 OUTERSPACE - MARCUS LERNER, ANDRE STUBBE (GER)

Rendel & Spitz · January 19-25, 2004 · Cologne, Germany
The concept of the design stems from the realisation that the attention and interest of the audience was focused mainly on the names of the participating designers during the last few years. The intelligence and complexity of the previous installations were only rarely granted attention or even questioned.
When entering the building, the visitor finds himself confronted with a bright yellow wall: only a narrow entrance allows entering the passage – almost too small to squeeze through, yet strongly appealing by the promise to discover whatever mystery is expecting one in its end. (Rendel & Spitz)

Cords_003milan_show_003 A COMPOSITION FOR CORDS – ATELIER OI (CH)

By invitation from the Centre Culturel Suisse, Atelier Oi is presenting a study of cord. From flexible cord via reel to stiff cord, a simple thread will become structural material. A furniture series will be created based on this principle and presented in a constructed, resonant landscape.
In terms of sound, light made from aluminium stems and arranged like large chimes will invite visitors to take part in a musical composition in a changing of light and shadows.
The work follows on from the creation of scenography for the work of the winners of the Swiss Federal Grant for Decorative Arts, which was on display at the Mudac in Lausanne, and from a joint installation with R and E Bouroullec at Neue Räume Zürich, where the use of “rigi-corde” (stiff cord) was already tried out.
This work reveals specific applications, but also serves to exemplify Atelier Oi’s approach and method, which are strongly based on a direct relationship and on experimental with the material.

Fra_08_transform_004_frozen02 »FROZEN« AN INSTALLATION BY SOUNDS OF SILENCE

Tendence autumn+winter, Frankfurt Fair, July 4- 8, 2008

968 Adhesive Tape Rolls
Two 70° wooden pallets with Sound-Cushions
4 Miniscan + 8 S4 Profiler

You see it as soon as you walk into the Frankfurt Tendence fair: a shiny cloud floating in the distance. Only as you get closer can you make out that the whole structure is made of a thousand adhesive tape rolls embedded on a grid and spun out over hundreds of nodes. Although adhesive tape is an everyday object, here, through simple multiplication and extension, it takes on a whole new life. The cloud of tape changes constantly as light plays with shadows and reflection yielding a different glimpse into the internal structure with every new angle. Lying on cushions and gazing up at the installation you are surrounded by scintillating sounds, melancholic and relaxing, evoking clouds drifting over summer meadows or rain drops splattering on window panes.

Fra_4658 »SHOP-WINDOW DESIGN, COLOGNE 2010«

Within the Passagen Interior Designweek Cologne… we saw some great shop-window designs. E.g. the poetic installation »Greenhouse« by Ilka Helmig in collaboration with Cornelia Pistorius, Carolin Zorn. The artwork was paper made for the window of Leitwerk. In the urban space you can hear the sing sang of birds. The window of sisley, cologne, was made as generative graphic design.
There was also a shop-window playing with different scales, in a normal sized small window was build a very small one, the little scene you can saw shows the competence of the window owner: a model-builder.
